DeVries partners with local craftsman to support Habitat Niagara

When Dan DeVries, of DeVries Fruit Farm in Fenwick, read about Paul Ryan making hundreds of bird houses as a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity Niagara he thought he would ask Paul if he could make some to sell at his fruit farm.

“In these challenging times whether it’s a local business or a charity we have to come together and support one another,” said Dan. “We’re happy to be able to contribute in this way. Looking forward to selling lots of bird houses!”

Paul, local Fonthill resident, has been making hand crafted bird houses for the past three years as fundraisers to support building Habitat homes for local families. Proceeds from the sale of his bird houses this year will go toward building homes in Port Colborne and Welland.

Paul delivered over 80 bird houses to DeVries Fruit Farm and within days 14 of them flew out the door.

The bird houses are sold for a $5 donation and are a great project for the children to decorate.
